You will also be equipped for the early days of postpartum, infant feeding, and taking care of your newborn.

We limit enrollment to just six couples so you’ll receive guided, individual-level attention — allowing you to ask your questions, practice your comfort-measures, and build trust with your partner in a warm, sacred space.

All classes meet Thursdays from 6–8 pm at Iron City OT in Homewood. Full series: $300 per couple (six classes for the price of five), or $60 per class — plus a 10% early-signup discount if you register by December 13.

What You’ll Learn in Our Birmingham Childbirth Classes

By the end of these six weeks you’ll feel calm and prepared, confident in your birth options, and spiritually and emotionally grounded as you step into parenthood.

What once felt overwhelming will now feel understandable, supported, and in alignment with the birth story you hope for.

Choose just the classes you want, or select the full package for comprehensive preparation. All of our classes can stand alone, but they are also designed to complement one another.

Class 1: Pregnancy, Labor, and Birth — What to Expect

Gain a clear, confidence-building understanding of how pregnancy, labor, and birth unfold so you know what’s normal, what’s optional, and how to make informed decisions. You’ll leave feeling grounded, prepared, and less anxious about what lies ahead.

Class 2: Positions, Relaxation, and Comfort Measures

Learn practical, hands-on comfort techniques that help you cope with contractions, stay centered, and work with your body during birth. This class gives you and your partner concrete tools you can use the moment labor begins.

Class 3: Meeting Your Baby — Pushing, Placenta, and Newborn Procedures

Understand what happens during pushing, birth, and the first moments after your baby arrives so you can feel ready, supported, and present. You’ll know your options for newborn procedures and how to make choices that reflect your family’s values.

Class 4: Setting Yourself Up for Postpartum Success

Prepare for the early weeks at home with practical strategies for recovery, bonding, emotional well-being, and daily rhythms. You’ll leave with a plan that helps your whole family feel steadier and more supported in those first tender days.

Class 5: Options for Infant Feeding

Build confidence in feeding your baby—whether you choose breastfeeding, pumping, formula, or a combination. You’ll gain clear, simple guidance to help you get started and know where to turn if you need support.

Class 6: Newborn Care, Health, and Safety

Learn essential newborn-care skills so you feel ready to meet your baby’s needs with confidence. You’ll understand cues, soothing techniques, diapering, bathing, safe sleep, and what to expect during pediatric visits.

When In Pregnancy Should You Take This Class?

It is never a bad time to register for a class, but for optimal results I recommend taking the class during your second trimester of pregnancy (4-6 months before your due date).

Going into birth unprepared often means fear expands the unknown — leading to a harder labor, more emotional exhaustion, and a less gentle start to your family’s journey.

Waiting to take a class until later in pregnancy can leave you scrambling when you’re more tired, more uncomfortable, and with less time to practice. Choosing to act now gives you space to grow confident before your baby arrives.

What Parents Say About This Class

Going to an in person class really helped us feel prepared and get on the same page for our natural hospital birth! It definitely gave my husband some confidence for support and using counter pressure which he did for every single contraction during active labor.

She very much listened and tailored the classes to your experiences and desires. She even texted me and talked to me on the phone after my last couple of appointments as some questions came up. She also knew a lot of specifics about our hospital and group so we knew tendencies and what to ask for. We left with a folder of helpful materials and recommended resources. I recommend these classes!– RH, comment in Trussville Moms Facebook group
