It’s a Scary Business Launching a Business!

Taking the plunge to set up a real, legal business for my doula work!

Well, I took the leap! This week, I officially, legally launched my business Eleison Doula Services LLC. I have been saying I was going to do it for a long time, but I kept finding excuses. I was already staying busy as a contract doula with BirthWell Partners on top of my full-time job as a university public health professor. I didn’t have a website, so I signed up for a WordPress account and then faltered in feeling overwhelmed about what to do with it. I didn’t know enough about running a business, so I took the amazing Advanced Business Training class with Randy Patterson of ProDoula. And then there was the biggest excuse that I hadn’t legally changed my name after I remarried, and I wanted to set up the business with my new name, but I couldn’t figure out how to send the required information to the Social Security office. Well, I finally took care of all of that and then made the plunge to officially launch myself as a doula business. Wish me luck! Better yet, if you know people who are pregnant, send them to my website!
