Joy on the Feast of the Annunciation

I’m sorry you’ve heard so little from me lately! It’s been a busy season and now I am holed up in bed with Covid. It’s hard to be tired, but I am grateful I didn’t get it until now when it seems to be generally milder and we have treatments available. This will need to be a short post, but I couldn’t let the day pass without remarking on the feast of the Annunciation on this blog about pregnancy and babies. This is the day in my church when we celebrate the beginning of the pregnancy that culminates with the birth at Christmas, when the Archangel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would become the Mother of God, instructing her to “rejoice.” It is the inspiration behind the name of a Facebook group I help moderate. If you are interested in Orthodox Christianity and in pregnancy, you might like to check it out!
