What makes you laugh?

When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.

J. M. Barrie

The first time I heard my baby laugh it felt like the most wonderful sound I had ever heard. How wonderful that tony babies have such a sense of wonder – and humor- in the world around them. What makes you laugh?

I love to laugh at life’s little ironies and the things that make you scratch your head and go “huh?” Like when my husband asked me why there was a bowl of peanut butter in the bathroom. (If you thought parenting newborns was a puzzle, wait til they become teenagers!).

A sense of humor is a great tool for labor and parenting! And yes, that probably includes an element of potty humor. Maybe you give out the loudest toot imaginable right in your doula’s face while you are being assisted to roll over after your epidural. Go ahead and enjoy that laughing-to-tears moment. It just might give you the emotional release needed for your labor to progress!

What makes you laugh? Please share in the comments. We could all uses good laugh today!
