Description
If fear or anxiety about giving birth has been on your mind, you’re in good company. Most expecting moms carry some version of it: not knowing what labor will really be like, worrying about interventions, wondering if you’ll be able to speak up for yourself and your baby when it matters most.
Unmedicated Academy is a virtual childbirth class built to replace that uncertainty with real preparation. Over four live small-group classes, held every two weeks starting August 18, plus a full self-paced video curriculum, you’ll learn how birth actually unfolds, what your options and alternatives are, and how to prepare for the unmedicated or low-intervention birth you want. This is evidence-based birth education, taught by Rachel, an experienced birth doula and ProDoula-certified childbirth and infant feeding instructor, in a warm, unbiased space where your questions are always welcome.
Preparing for birth with confidence means preparing for what comes after it, too. You’ll leave this class ready for postpartum recovery, newborn care, and breastfeeding, so if you’re worried about sleep deprivation with a newborn or facing it with no family support nearby, you’ll already have a plan and a community around you.
What you’ll learn:
- What to expect during labor, so nothing about the process catches you off guard
- How to understand your interventions, options, and alternatives, so every decision in the room is one you actually made
- How to advocate for yourself in birth, so your voice carries weight with your care team
- Labor positions, breathing techniques, and other tools for supporting physiologic birth, so you have real skills to reach for during contractions
- How your partner can support you, so they walk in feeling capable instead of helpless on the sidelines
- How to put together your support team, so you know exactly who’s in your corner long before labor starts
Here’s how you’ll benefit:
- Learn on your own schedule with the complete self-paced Unmedicated Academy curriculum, so 2 a.m. worry spirals turn into 2 a.m. answers
- Get your specific questions answered in 4 live virtual classes with Rachel, so you walk into birth with a plan built around you, not a generic script
- Reference class handouts anytime, so you’re not trying to remember everything while you’re in labor
- Pack with confidence using a hospital packing or home birth preparation list, so nothing catches you off guard
- Nourish your body through pregnancy and postpartum recovery with nutrition guidelines and recipes made for this exact season
- Leave with real friends who get it at the “graduation” party, an in-person Birmingham meetup for mocktails, healthy snacks, and swapping birth stories, so you’re not facing postpartum with no family support and no one who understands
What past class families have said:
“We felt informed and more confident going into birth. I would recommend these classes to anyone, as opposed to ones in the hospital, though those can be good resources too. Rachel presents information from an unbiased, evidence-based point of view, and I appreciate her approach so much.” – KN, Google review
“Going to this class really helped us feel prepared and get on the same page for our natural hospital birth. It gave my husband confidence to support me and use counter pressure through every single contraction in active labor.” – RH, Trussville Moms Facebook group
